How to Use Active Listening to take the Attention Off the Food this Holiday

active listening holidays

Would you believe me if I told you that active listening plays a HUGE roll in how you connect to food?

Well, you should!

Because it totally does.

Hear me out.

When you’re having a conversation with someone you care about, do you try to handle the conversation by wanting to ‘fix’ everything for them?

I’ve always been the caretaker of my family, and to be honest… I’ve always really loved playing that role.

Until I realized that these in-depth, deep, and difficult conversations were only leaving me to feel emotionally and energetically DRAINED.

Which was tough!

Because anytime I’d leave a conversation feeling this way, I’d have this emotional build up which would lead me to ‘fill myself up‘ again with food.

It’s almost like my inner self-was acting out, or throwing a temper tantrum because I was constantly thinking about others, but never myself.

(P.S. if you need support on how to balance the ‘shoulds’ with your own needs this holiday– you’re going to want to give this a listen).

I was craving pleasure/ care of any kind… and the food was my go-to, so of course, it got loud!

Are you starting to catch on now?

Active listening is what helped me to break these people saving cylces.

I was no longer down to play everyone’s therapist.

Especially if it was only going to leave me feeling depleted.

So what’s a girl to do when she doesn’t know how to follow the instructions of ‘putting on her own oxygen mask before someone else‘?
